Peace and tranquility

With a distinct lack of heavy traffic and people there is a much quieter and tranquil atmosphere in Woolacombe during winter. This means the roads are clearer and there's less queuing time, but more time and space to view the uninterrupted sea views.

When the crowds have dispersed over winter Woolacombe beach offers a beautiful, wide and far reaching view. When the skies are clear, you can see as far Lundy Island and Putsborough at the end of beach.

Free parking

Woolacombe car parks are closed for the winter from November, which means you can park on the street for free. The Esplanade car park costs £10 per day during summer, so this represents a great saving during winter.

Cosy pubs & cafés

North Devon boasts a fantastic selection of pubs and cafés to re-fuel after a winter walk. The Jube, The Red Barn, The Tides Inn are all relaxed pub/restaurants close to the beach. Captain Jacks is a more traditional pub offering locally sourced food and drink and inviting atmosphere.

If it's a cafés you're after, the Beachcomber Café overlooks the beach and provides a great meeting place for locals and visitors. The Porthole is a wonderful café and kiosk which is open all year round (Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday) and offers superb panoramic views.
