Funder Island
A small amusement park close to the beach in Woolacombe. There are several rides and an 18-hole mini golf course on a pirate theme. Entry is free - buy some tokens and choose how you want to spend them. Teens love the crazy challenge of the golf course.
When you’ve had enough, maybe it’s time to head for the beach, or explore some of the other things to do in Woolacombe.

Riding Stables
Many older children love the sense of freedom that comes with riding a horse or pony. This isn’t beach donkey riding - it’s an adventure in the saddle. The stables offer a variety of experiences, including lessons, beach rides, treks and a full-day experience, which includes helping take care of the animals.
Being on horseback gives you a unique view of the glorious Devon countryside and coastline. The stables are approved by the British Horse Society and the Pony Club. They supply hats and boots for free. Children under four and adults over 15 stone can’t ride.
Woolacombe Riding Stables are just a five-minute drive away from us.
Woolacombe Surf Centre
It’s not a holiday in Devon if you don’t get into the sea at least once, and teenagers want more excitement than a paddle on a sandy beach. The surfing experience delivers excitement and independence by the bucketload, and provides loads to talk about afterwards.
New to surfing? That’s no problem, as the Woolacombe Surf Centre provides lessons by qualified instructors. It’s a Surfing England ‘Centre of Excellence’, which is the highest rating available to a surf school. It’s also on one of the most stunning stretches of British coastline.
They don’t just offer surfing. The Centre also hires out bodyboards, kayaks, wet suits, and stand-up paddle boards (SUPs).
In the centre of Woolacombe, it’s just a ten-minute drive away from the self-catering accommodation on our site.
Fly Like A Bird
If enjoying the North Devon scenery from horseback or a surfboard isn’t enough, how about taking it in from above?
Tandem hang gliding or paragliding takes you soaring in the skies accompanied by a qualified instructor. It gives an experience that few others will share, and memories to treasure for life. Not to mention some serious bragging rights!
Fly Like A Bird flies from Woolacombe Down, which is just a five-minute drive from Willingcott Valley. They provide all the equipment, including helmets and two-way radios, and every experience includes a full briefing and de-brief. You have the option for video footage, complete with a GPS-logged map of the flight.
Coasteering or High Ropes with H2Outdoor
North Devon is a fantastic place for coasteering - the adventure water sport that takes you on a journey along the coastline, at the point where waves meet the land.
Coasteering is a fabulous way to explore the coast, to challenge yourself and to have some fun! H2Outdoor is just one of the organisations that provide coasteering. Every adventure is led by experienced and qualified instructors, and you’ll be provided with all the safety equipment needed.
Alternatively, if you want to stay dry and go high, how about their High Ropes course? It’s one of the largest free-standing courses in the UK and offers routes with varying degrees of difficulty. Finish it off with an 80m zip wire ride!
From our self-catering cottages it’s about a fifteen-minute drive to Croyde, where H2Outdoors coasteering takes place. The High Ropes are a bit further away at Bideford, which is around a 45-minute trip.
Private Swimming Pool Session
Why travel anywhere, when you can entertain your teenagers with a session in our on-site heated, outdoor pool? When you’re a guest in our self-catering accommodation, you’re entitled to book two sessions of one hour each.
Relax on one of the loungers or enjoy swimming or splashing in the water. The pool is in a sunny position, on the edge of our holiday village and backing onto open fields.
