Reconnect with North Devon

Events of the past year have made more of us choose a UK staycation as a means of escape. We've learnt to rethink our priorities and appreciate what we have around us a bit more. It has also meant sacrificing some of the pleasures in life that we'd have normally taken for granted.

As we begin to come out of lockdown restrictions, its the perfect time to rediscover favourite places and spend time with close family and friends. As well as finding the time to focus on activities that benefit our own wellbeing. With world-class sandy beaches and scenic countryside, North Devon is the perfect destination to do all of that.

Here are some of our recommendations for ways to reconnect with North Devon during your holiday.

Reconnect with the places you love

If you've opted for a break in North Devon, our location at Willingcott Valley will provide easy access to the top beaches and attractions. Take your pick from Woolacombe (2miles way), Ilfracombe, Croyde and Saunton. If you're prepared to explore a little further we recommend Clovelly, Lynton & Lynmouth or a boat trip to Lundy Island.

A cream tea on holiday in Devon is simply a must. The beauty of taking afternoon tea in North Devon is the fabulous views which add to the experience. Some of our recommended afternoon tea locations are Saunton Sands Hotel, Watersmeet Hotel Woolacombe, Tea by the Taw Barnstaple, and Sandy Cove Ilfracombe. Whichever choice you make you'll be guaranteed to a perfect escape to the places and views in North Devon you've missed.

Reconnect with loved ones

So many of us have been forced to spend a great deal of time in isolation. Consequently, one of the main things people are looking forward to is spending quality time with others. With a selection of stunning world-class beaches near our Devon self-catering cottages you'll have no end of choices to head to the coast with a group of friends. Booking a group SUP session around the North Devon coast is a great way to enjoy a shared experience.

Another group activity is a walk or ride through the stunning North Devon countryside. Take off on foot or on two wheels and enjoy a family adventure along the Tarka Trail. Or for a more relaxing way to spend time with loved ones take lunch with the perfect seaside view; The Boast House Instow, Beachside Grill Saunton Sands, The Beach House Restaurant Woolacombe, and The Tides Inn Woolacombe will all be ideal to enjoy new views with old friends.

Reconnect with you

We've all had to adapt to changing restrictions recently. Therefore, its vitally important look after our own mental wellbeing. As well providing coastal and watersport adventures, North Devon is also great for a more tranquil holiday. Allowing you to have a soul-reviving break taking in the fresh coastal open air on the South West Coast Path. Social distancing isn't a problem on our spacious beaches so you'll have plenty of space to relax. Not forgetting the peaceful retreat you can enjoy in the countryside location of our cosy self-catering holiday cottages in Devon.

Perhaps you're thinking of reconnecting with your creative side? There are a number of arts and crafts galleries in the area. Ilfracombe Art Trail normally takes place in May each year.

We hope this guide has inspired you to reconnect with all the things you love. Escape to the summer in North Devon you've waited for!
